Deposit Accounts


Savings / Share Accounts

The credit union savings (share) account is the basis for credit union membership and is required to become a member of the credit union. 

 An initial deposit of $25.00 will open your account. This deposit makes you a member/owner of the credit union and entitles you to vote in the proceedings of the annual meeting each year. The $25.00 must remain on deposit until the account is closed. 

Share accounts with an average daily balance of $25.00 earns dividends, payable each quarter.

Member accounts are insured up to an aggregate of $250,000.00 by the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA), a US Government Agency.

Checking / Share Draft Accounts            

Star Checking, with no monthly service fees**, is available at your credit union. Members must have a regular savings account to open a share draft/checking account. A minimum deposit of $25.00 is required to open. With a deposit of $100.00 or more you receive a free box of "Elegant Monogram" checks on your initial order. (Members 62 and older receive one free box of checks at each order of the Elegant Monogram checks.) Please call the credit union (713-934-1460 or 1-800-600-3228) for check ordering.


Debit Cards

With Star Checking debit cards are available, giving you access to your checking and savings. Our onsite ATM is surcharge free for our debit cards and Mastercards. CO-OP Network and Allpoint ATM's are also surcharge free.                  

For your convenience, overdraft protection loans and temporary checks are available.    

Accounts that maintain an average daily balance of $1,000.00 will earn dividends, payable monthly.

Member accounts are insured up to an aggregate of $250,000.00 by the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA), a US Government Agency.

Individual Retirement Accounts

Individual Retirement Accounts (IRA's) are an excellent way to save for retirement. Contributions can be made through payroll deduction, direct deposit or personal check. A minimum contribution of $25.00 is required to open. Your regular traditional IRA contributions cannot exceed the annual contribution limit (amount stated in the following table).

2018 $5,500.00 $6,500.00

There are penalties for early withdrawal of funds before age 59½.

Roth and Education IRA's are not currently available. 

IRA accounts are insured up to $250,000.00 by the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA), a US Government Agency.

Certificates of Deposit

The credit union offers Certificates of Deposit for members to improve the rate of return on their regular savings or IRA deposits. 

Deposit terms range from 6 months to 36 months for regular savings and 12 months to 36 months for IRA's.  

Withdrawals prior to maturity will incur an interest penalty.

Christmas Club Account

A minimum deposit of $25.00 is required.  Dividends are paid quarterly.

Funds are disbursed on November 1st of each year and deposited to your savings or checking account.


Vacation Club Account

 A minimum deposit of $25.00 is required.  Dividends are paid quarterly. Two withdrawals per year are allowed. Member accounts are insured up to an aggregate of $250,000.00 by the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA), a US Government Agency.
